Hello, I am Anna.
I am a gym addict, a keen baker, a book lover and a stitcher enthusiast. I live with my husband, two children and a siberian cat in a rolling hills of Kent county.
How it all began
I do not remember how exactly my interest in stitching sparkled. Possibly at secondary school where we had girls only class. We’ve being taught amongst other things how to use a needle, then progressing to knitting, crochet and cross stitch. Even though the thought of such a class makes me cringe now (would not boys benefit from knowing how to fix a hole?) it had a nice vibe. I recall creating a few pieces I was actually proud of. My mum used to knit when I was a child, which is how I probably have learnt this craft. However, she was never keen on embroidery and I do not remember her showing any interest in it. As for me, I loved learning different techniques during my school days but as soon as the school was over, so my encounter with knitting and stitching.
How it found its way back into my life
It all changed with the onset of COVID. I suddenly found myself stuck at home with two small children and a husband who was vulnerable to catching it. I needed some zen in my life, so I ordered some wool and needles and tried to re-learn the basics. At first, I thought that I have forgotten it all. Luckily my best friend is a keen knitter, she helped me enormously with her advice, otherwise it might have been the end of my journey. I’ve knitted a few hats and snoods for kids, woollen socks for myself (I always get cold feet in winter!) and even a cardigan of lovely colour. The latter took me a year as I ran out of wool and had to wait a long while for the company to replenish its supplies (typical!) but I did it nonetheless, and am proudly wearing my knitted cardigan each time.
Then I started a few projects in tapestry (needlepoint) and got hooked … but that’s another story.
Enough about me. I have now made a decision to start this blog as a diary to remind me of the things I’ve made, to show my progress / struggles with some projects and to connect with the fellow embroidery enthusiasts.
